Power Yoga Classes are great fun to do if you enjoy an energetic yoga practice, however there are some things that you need to know before you go to class. These tips will help you make the most of your practice and make sure that you maintain the focus on your yoga practice.
Tips To Prepare For Class
1) Remove your makeup
If you are doing a hot yoga class there is nothing worse than walking into class on top of the world only to walk past a mirror to see to you have ‘panda eyes’. In other words your mascara has run and smudged all over your face. Avoid panda eyes and remove your makeup before class.
2) Wear black yoga pants
As you can imagine, hot yoga can make you perspire – a lot – so as you look around your first class, you notice that everyone wears black pants. When you sweat around your groin area in anything other than black colours, it is not a pretty sight.
3) Freeze your water bottle
Generally the room is heated anywhere from 32 to 42 degrees Celsius (or 90 – 108 degrees Fahrenheit).
That kind of heat can make anything hot and the last thing you want is hot water, so freezing your water bottle will help you get through the class with cold water instead of hot water in your water bottle.

4) Get a non-slip yoga mat
Even if you don’t naturally have sweating palms and feet, a hot yoga class is likely to get you there. Make sure that you buy a decent yoga mat instead of a rubber mat. Not only is rubber not good for you, but you will also find yourself slipping and sliding around which will take your focus off your practice.

5) Get a yoga towel
The towel has non slip pads on the bottom and a thin towel on top.
The towel will soak up any perspiration while the non slip pads will make sure you don’t slip and slide around.
At the end of the day, the important thing is that you enjoy your practice and stay as healthy as possible. As the power yoga classes are designed to give your insides a nice massage and flush the toxins out of your body, make sure that after class you drink plenty of water and enjoy the benefits of your practice.
